Rare Leon Paul fencing jacket, dating from approximately the 1950s–60s. A particularly well-constructed historical fencing garment with a utilitarian cut and numerous details characteristic of early fencing equipment.
Constructed with a substantial woven fabric and finished with a selvedge edge visible along the centre-back construction. The jacket has a distinctive asymmetric fastening around the neck and shoulder, with multiple buttons extending down the front. The sleeves and body retain their original proportions and construction, making this an especially good reference piece as well as something that can be worn.
The garment has accumulated considerable age-related wear and staining throughout. It has not been attempted to be washed or restored, so the current surface and patina have been left untouched. There are two missing buttons, as visible in the photographs. Despite this, the jacket remains structurally sound with very good underlying construction.
