1980s US Military Extreme Cold Weather Fishtail Parka (M)
1980s US Military Extreme Cold Weather Fishtail Parka (M)
Original US military-issue Parka, Extreme Cold Weather, produced as part of the American military’s cold-weather clothing system. Designed as a protective outer layer for harsh conditions, the parka features a substantial olive-drab shell, concealed button fastening, high stand collar, oversized angled flap pockets and adjustable cuffs. The chest is finished with a distinctive woven tape detail, while the generous cut allows for layering underneath.
The design belongs to the lineage of utilitarian military parkas developed for cold-weather field use, where durability, weather protection and freedom of movement took precedence over conventional tailoring. Its faded olive finish, pronounced seam construction and naturally creased surface give it an excellent worn-in character. The original specification label identifies it as an Extreme Cold Weather parka, with NATO sizing and a military stock number. Likely late 1980s production, subject to confirmation of the full contract code.
Shows some repairs and signs of use, adding to its authentic military character. Missing lining.
