Antique black wool waistcoat, likely late Victorian / early Edwardian, c. 1890–1910. Made from the same dense, dry, slightly coarse wool cloth associated with period frock coats, with a strongly tailored construction, deep shawl-style lapels, five-button fastening and three welt pockets. Contrasting cream satin (?) lining/back gives it the characteristic period formalwear construction.
