Carol Christian Poell — 2010 Cross Front Tape Seamed Scar Stitch Parka
Rare Carol Christian Poell In Between piece constructed in 100% cotton, showcasing Poell’s distinctive approach to utilitarian construction and deconstructed tailoring. The coat features extensive tape-seamed construction, with exposed, almost architectural seamwork running throughout the body, collar and sleeves. An adjustable cross-front neckline closure allows the upper portion to be dramatically reshaped and worn in multiple configurations, while the hood itself is built with pronounced sculptural volume. Finished with Poell’s characteristic scar stitching, curved classic zip pockets and an elongated, strongly tailored silhouette. The washed grey cotton has a beautifully aged, slightly irregular surface that emphasises the garment’s construction. A particularly strong example of Poell’s ability to push functional outerwear into something much more severe and sculptural.
