This is the Christopher Nemeth Shirt 88 / 88B, a signature Nemeth pattern that has been reproduced in recent collections.
An absolutely insane piece of pattern cutting. The body is constructed from an extraordinarily wide sheet of cotton, with the enormous volume concentrated through dense vertical pleating/gathering beneath the shoulder yoke. Rather than simply being oversized, the fabric is deliberately compressed at the seams before exploding outward into the body, creating a dramatic accordion-like fall and huge amount of movement.
The sleeves are similarly pleated from the upper arm downward, narrowing into substantial extended cuffs. The cuffs are unusually long and finished with three large dark nut buttons, allowing them to be worn folded back or extended. The shoulder construction is relatively controlled before the gathered fabric begins, giving the shirt an almost architectural transition from fitted yoke into extreme volume.
The rear continues the construction with a broad horizontal yoke and enormous gathered body beneath it. The hem falls in a deep, irregularly rounded shape, with the sheer quantity of fabric creating a beautiful sculptural silhouette when worn.
The current official Shirt 88 measures an extraordinary 228cm chest circumference / 114cm flat, with a 70cm shoulder, and is produced as OS — confirming just how extreme the pattern is.
