Shohei Takamiya reconstructed wide-leg trousers, combining a very soft inner layer with a heavily textured outer textile in a tonal black-on-black floral/jacquard pattern. Constructed with extensive raw-edged panel work throughout, creating an intentionally unfinished, deconstructed finish. The waist and outer leg are wrapped with layered leather patchwork, incorporating detailed leather lacing and braided cord elements. Extremely wide and voluminous through the leg, with multiple overlapping panels and an irregular raw hem.
The one-of-one, hand-reconstructed approach is very characteristic of Takamiya’s practice: his work is produced entirely by the designer, from material selection through finishing, with each garment treated as a unique piece.
