Undercover AW06 “But Beautiful V” GURUGURU Elongated Zip Knit Hoodie
From Jun Takahashi’s Autumn/Winter 2006 collection, But Beautiful V: GURUGURU, a defining period of Undercover’s experimental archive. The collection explored the idea of garments wrapping and spiralling around the body, distorting familiar silhouettes through elongated proportions and unconventional construction.
Constructed in a black knit, this elongated hoodie features an extended body, an oversized hood, a central half-zip fastening and an additional diagonal chest zip. A large front kangaroo pocket is complemented by a utility pocket on the upper sleeve, introducing a functional, almost military character to the otherwise unconventional silhouette. The hood construction and extended proportions give the piece a distinctive, enveloping shape, characteristic of the GURUGURU season’s approach to reworking everyday garments.
A strong example of Undercover’s mid-2000s experimentation, combining utilitarian detailing with the elongated, distorted proportions that made this collection particularly sought after.
