Very rare UNDERCOVER SS03 “SCAB” sleeveless vest from Jun Takahashi’s landmark 2003 collection. The body is covered in the collection’s distinctive distressed, graphic patchwork-style print, with each framed motif giving the piece an almost collage-like quality.
The standout detail is the hood, made from a much heavier grey fabric and finished with exposed hand stitching around the entire edge. The raw-cut armholes, loose threads and deliberately unfinished construction give it the characteristic DIY / crust-punk quality of the SCAB collection, while the substantial hood adds an unusually luxurious weight and presence.
Button-front construction with a central placket and beautifully integrated printed pocket panels. An exceptionally rare and unusual SCAB piece. The collection is regarded as one of Takahashi’s most important and influential, marking UNDERCOVER’s breakthrough onto the international fashion scene.
