From Jun Takahashi’s Spring/Summer 2006 The Tale of Zamiang collection, part of the But Beautiful series. Inspired by 1960s–70s German progressive rock, the collection revolved around five fictional bands, with their imagined merchandise deconstructed and reassembled into unconventional garments.
This piece combines a black cotton button-down shirt front with contrasting charcoal-blue jersey sleeves and a matching extended back panel, creating a distinctive hybrid between a traditional shirt and a long-sleeved band tee. The reverse features the distressed graphic of the fictional band The SSSSS, while printed sleeve details reinforce the illusion of vintage tour merchandise. A compelling example of Takahashi’s reconstructed approach to familiar wardrobe staples, balancing subcultural references with experimental panel construction.
