Rare original WWII-era St John Ambulance nurse’s hat, dating to the early 1940s. Structured black felt construction with extended brim, original pale striped grosgrain band and a distinctive large hand-pleated fabric rosette mounted to the side.
Beautifully preserved period construction with natural age-related wear, dusting and marks to the felt and trim.
Originally accompanied by a wartime printed message from Queen Elizabeth to the Nurses of Britain, signed Elizabeth R. The note has been retained separately as memorabilia and is not included.
