Yuji Yamada longline shirt in washed charcoal-grey cotton, with an insane level of construction and detailing throughout. The front is dominated by multiple vertically gathered and ruched channels, with loose threads deliberately left running through the surface, creating an almost hand-worked, distressed effect.

The construction becomes even more interesting through the sleeves: extended buttoned sleeve plackets run almost the entire length of the forearms, with multiple buttons allowing the cuffs to be opened and folded back. Oversized folded cuffs, articulated sleeve panels and exposed stitching give the arms a highly deconstructed quality.

The back features a floating horizontal yoke, beneath which the body falls into deep central pleating/gathers. The hem is dramatically rounded and elongated at the sides, creating a subtle asymmetric drape. Classic pointed collar and central button placket contrast with the otherwise highly experimental construction.

A particularly strong example of Yamada’s pattern manipulation and obsession with transforming the traditional shirt. His archive is particularly associated with this kind of intricate pattern work from the late 1990s–early 2000s.
