Rare Hedi Slimane–designed Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche necklace from 2003, featuring a short, flat woven silver-tone chain and square pendant with a finely textured, crosshatched surface. The geometric pendant is paired with the distinctive articulated toggle closure engraved “RIVE GAUCHE”, with the reverse marked “RIVE GAUCHE 02.”
The design is documented in both red and black enamel versions, which are considerably more commonly encountered; this silver-tone textured variant without enamel is an unusually scarce version. Contemporary secondary-market examples identify the same necklace design as Hedi Slimane for YSL Rive Gauche, dated 2003, with a 16” / 40.6 cm chain and square pendant.
A particularly nice detail is the combination of the braided/flat woven chain with the industrial geometric clasp, giving it the distinctly stripped-back, early-Slimane character of the period.
